One story. One turning point.

The Spark That Helped Shape a Wider Movement

Professor Bahman Tohidi's journey from a life-threatening diagnosis to a new understanding of behaviour, environment and wellbeing helped inspire HopeHealth's mission.

Before the diagnosis

A Life Shaped by Curiosity, Integrity and Service

Before the event that changed his life, Professor Bahman Tohidi had spent decades as an academic, researcher and educator. He was known for simplifying complex ideas, challenging assumptions and treating knowledge as a responsibility.

That scientific mindset and lifelong commitment to learning would later become central to how he confronted an unexpected health crisis.

The Diagnosis That Changed Everything

After a period of unusual symptoms, medical tests identified a rapidly growing brain tumour. The prognosis was grave and forced Bahman to reconsider what he understood about health, disease and the human body.

"You have six months to two years to live."

For a scientist, the diagnosis was devastating. It also became the beginning of an intense search for understanding.

The two questions

A Missing Link Became Impossible to Ignore

"Why did I get cancer?"
"Should I follow a specific diet?"

The answers he received did not satisfy his scientific curiosity. They revealed a gap between conventional treatment and wider questions about lifestyle, environment and long-term health.

From patient to researcher

He Returned to the Tool He Trusted Most: Inquiry

During recovery, Bahman began reviewing research into cancer, metabolism, diet, inflammation, stress and the relationship between modern environments and human biology. He treated his daily life as a disciplined process of learning and observation.

Over time he changed his approach to food, movement, sleep, stress and contact with nature. His personal experience deepened his conviction that prevention, education and supportive environments deserved greater attention.

From healing to teaching

A Private Journey Became a Public Responsibility

Bahman began sharing what he had learned through accessible educational videos. A small collection of recordings grew into a large community of people interested in healthier living and prevention.

Birth of HopeHealth

From One Transformation to a System for Impact

People were not only looking for information; they were looking for a practical model connecting science with daily life. HopeHealth grew from that insight into a broader mission spanning individual behaviour, community resilience and sustainable industry.

Bahman's story is not the full identity of HopeHealth. It is the spark that helped illuminate the path.
